Terms of Use Agreement (“Agreement”) sets out the legally binding terms for your participation in LOKSATTA’s BLOG BENCHERS CONTEST (“Contest”), organized by The Indian Express (P) Limited (“TIEL”). By this Agreement, you (“Contestant”) agree to abide by all applicable laws and by the terms of this Agreement. Please read this Agreement and indicate your acceptance by checking the box on the submission form.

To encourage Marathi language and expose the younger generation to meaningful exchange of ideas, public discussion and debate. And to promote talent, knowledge, ability and competitiveness among students and sharpen writing skills, spontaneity, & communication. To improve understanding & sharing of diverse views and opinions in an friendly and academic atmosphere.

The Contest will be open for all Students of junior and senior colleges, as well as graduate and post graduate students of Maharashtra, Goa and Belgaum. It will be conducted in a phased manner, as follows:

3.1 One editorial or column of the Editor of the LOKSATTA will be featured online at the Contest microsite.

3.2 Two prominent personalities from different walks of life will give their views or comments on the selected editorial or column.

3.3 Bloggers who have registered on the Contest microsite to submit their blog responding or relating to the selected editorial, consisting of 700- 750 words.

3.4 Every week, the blogs submitted will be judged by the LOKSATTA appointed judges as confirmed by TIEL.

3.5 The best blog and the second best blog as judged for each week will receive cash prize of Rs 7,000/- & Rs 5,000/- respectively.

The final decision shall be taken by TIEL who will declare the winner (s).

Eligibility for submission of entries in the Contest:
5.1 The Contestant should be a bona fide student of junior college, senior college, graduate or post graduate. He/ She must submit a scanned copy of their identity card, self attested. The Contestant’s age must be 16 (completed). If the Contestant has not completed 16 years of age the consent letter from parent will be required.
5.2 The Contestant should be an Indian national/ permanent resident in India / PIO/ OCI.
5.3 The Contest is open to bona fide students in Maharashtra, Goa & Belgaum.
5.4 There shall be no entry fee.
5.5 The blog entries must be the original work(s) of the Contestant in Marathi. Any quotation shall acknowledge the author. The Contestant represents that all intellectual property in his / her entry/speech vests exclusively with him/her (except quotations)
5.6 The Contestant represents that the entry shall not contain abusive, hateful, communal, castest, defamatory, sexist, offensive, insulting, obscene, seditious matter and/or contain any content which is illegal, immoral or contrary to public policy. Nor should it contain anything which may constitute breach of privacy or infringement of copyright or intellectual property.
5.7 In the blog entry sobriety and dignity shall be maintained.
5.8 Submission must be post registration by the scheduled date and time.
5.9 The Contestant shall submit the blog and after examination, it shall be uploaded on the Contest microsite. LOKSATTA retains the right to remove any blog which is found to have breached the terms contained herein.
5.10 The Contestant represents and warrants that he/she and his /her entry fulfill all eligibility criteria, and there exists no information or documents the disclosure of which would impact their participation and /or disqualify their entry.

TIEL reserves their right to suspend, cancel or modify, add to, or truncate the Contest and/or rules relating thereto and/or replace or substitute prizes at any time without notice. It may determine if no appropriate blogs are received, not to declare prize (s). It reserves the right to admission to the Contest.

Short listing of blogs and determination of winners shall be done by Jury appointed by TIEL. Decisions of the Jury & TIEL will be final and binding.

7.1 The Contestant grants an irrevocable non exclusive royalty free license to the Contest / TIEL to:
7.1.1 Upload the blog on their Contest microsite, or otherwise use in new media for the purposes of this Contest, Jury process and for deciding winners, and promotion of the Contest in the future;
7.1.2 Permit coverage of the Contest blogs in print publications, advertising and publicity not limited to group publications, print and online;
7.2 The Contestant certifies that he/she has full right and absolute authority to enter the Contest, and that no third party has any claim or consideration outstanding relating thereto.

The Contest or TIEL shall not be responsible for the blog entries or content thereof under any circumstances. The Contestant is solely responsible for his /her blog entry and its contents.

Prizes will be announced by the Contest. The Prize (s) will be distributed through their respective colleges or University. Taxes if any shall be borne by the winner.

TIEL respects privacy of Contestants and the use and protection of your Personal Information. If the Contestant has any questions regarding the Contest’s privacy practices, the Contestant may send his/ her question to TIEL by e-mail to makrand.patil@expressindia.com

The matter arising out of these terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Indian law and courts of Mumbai shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

The Contestant (and for minors, their parent) shall indemnify and hold the Contest, it’s organizers, its subsidiaries, and affiliates, and their respective officers, agents, directors, editors, partners and employees, indemnified and harmless from any loss, liability, claim, or demand (including reasonable attorneys’ fees), made by any third party due to or arising out of the blog entry in the Contest and/or from a breach of this Agreement and/or any breach of your representations and warranties set forth above. The representations, warranties, licenses, indemnification and limitation of liability shall survive the Contest.

In no event shall the Contest it’s organizers, , The Indian Express (P) Ltd, its subsidiaries, and affiliates, and their respective officers, agents, partners and employees, be liable to the Contestant or any third party for any indirect, consequential, exemplary, incidental, special or punitive damages, including loss of profit or damage arising from the Contestant’s blog entry/ entries participation in the Contest, even if the Contest has been advised of the possibility of such damages. They shall also not be liable for any damage or loss caused by technical or other reasons to or while uploading the blog or at any time thereafter.
