Yet another day ends in the World Cup! The 2015 finalists are topping the table as of now, with New Zealand leading the group. The caravan moves to Bristol, where match number 11 sees Pakistan and Sri Lanka clash. However, there could be a third party intervention. RAIN. There is plenty of it forecast but hopefully, it is proved wrong. Join us at 10.30 am local (0930 GMT) on Friday, June 7, 2019. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Australian skipper, Aaron Finch, smiles and says that they just tried to hang in there. Mentions that the stand between Carey and Smith took them a little deeper and then the way Nathan Coulter-Nile batted was exceptional. Admits that he was nervous at 38/4 but they hung in there and he considers it outstanding that they got 280-odd from there. Tells that he had to keep taking wickets and steal some momentum from Windies' batting innings. Says that the output of the Aussie top order was disappointing and agrees that they have a lot of improvement to do.
West Indies skipper, Jason Holder, says that he is disappointed as they were well in the game. Rues the fact that there were a few irresponsible shots played. States that there are still many positives from this game. Tells that they dropped Coulter-Nile on 60 odd and he got plenty at the end. Feels that their batters need to take more responsibility. Terms the run out of Shimron Hetmyer costly. Mentions that they still believe in themselves and it's early days in the tournament. Wants to get consistent with their performance.
Nathan Coulter-Nile is chosen for the Man of the Match award! Says that he didn't think he will get that many with the bat. Tells that the plan was to stick around a little bit and admits that the luck went his way too. States that they backed themselves at the halfway mark as they have two world class bowlers in their team. On the surface, NCN replies that the pitch was a bit up and down. Praises Starc for his brilliant spell.
West Indies had plenty of positives. The seamers dismantled Australia in the first hour and a half, then the batsmen showed that they can chase down any total irrespective of whether Gayle fires or not. But if they just manage to play those crucial moments better - for example, not taking the foot off the throat when on top and not throw it away when in a good position. Who is your Man Of The Match? Starc? Or Coulter-Nile? Tough choice. Here comes the presentation...
Positives for Australia? No one performing but the glue showing its effect. Precocious Steven Peter Devereux Smith. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Smith showed what Australia have been missing in the last 15 months. Nathan Coulter-Nile's 92 - showing that Australia's tail can wag. And Starc's 5-fer signalling that he is slowing come back to form.
1. First innings. Australia 79/5. West Indies let loose their grip and allow Carey and Coulter-Nile to take the game away, with 150 coming for the next 2 wickets. 2. Nathan Coulter-Nile dropped on 61. Australia were 238/6, added 50 more. 3. West Indies going nicely at 149/3, needing 140 from 137 balls, only for Hope to run Hetmyer out. 4. West Indies have the match in control at 190/4, needing 99 from 91 balls. Cummins is probably bowling the last over of his spell. Hope loses patience and brings Australia back in the game. 5. Russell blitzes away, gets the target down to 73 from 68 balls. Finch forced to go to his main bowler Starc. Dre Russ misreads the situation, throws it away due to over-attacking and Australia are back again. 6. 252/6 - 37 needed from 28 balls and Brathwaite and Holder lose the plot, handing Starc a double-wicket over. So if you can see, who was tilting the balance? West Indies, every time. But then, due to their own folly, kept getting Australia back in and eventually, paid the price for it.
While we go ga-ga over Australia, West Indies will be gutted with themselves. They had the match in control, only to throw it away at crucial moments. Australia were not necessarily better but they played out the nervous moments nicely. Those are the ones where the game shifts due to the momentum. Let us count.
Credit to Australia for getting their 10th straight win. They showed character and nerves of steel when the going got tough and probably slight inexperience from the West Indies helped them. But Australia will not mind, as they get their second victory of this World Cup.

FOUR! Make it four in a row but still that won't do for the Windies. AUSTRALIA WIN BY 15 RUNS! A pitched up delivery outside off, Ashley Nurse gets on the front foot and strokes it through the gap between mid off and extra cover for a boundary. 16 from the over but they needed 32. Well tried in the end but Australia are the deserving winners.

Brilliant effort and awareness shown by Maxwell! Short in length on middle, Nurse somehow gets on top of the bounce and pulls it to deep square leg. Stoinis in the deep runs across to his left and puts in a premature dive. Still gets a hand to it but ends up parrying towards the rope. Now, the brilliance of Glenn comes into play. He speeds across to his right from deep mid-wicket, gets down low at the right time and flicks it inside. Saves three runs for his team.

OUT! Stumps are shattered! Starc gets his 6th ODI fifer and is all pumped up. What an impact bowler he is when he gets it right! Cottrell exposes all his stumps even before the bowler has delivered. Starc keeps it in line at 143 kph, Sheldon swings and misses to find his stumps rattled. No Sheldon, you cannot do that against this bowler.

Shout for an lbw! Not given. Stoinis wanted but Finch is not taking it. A full toss on off, Nurse tries hitting across the line but misses. He is hit on the pads, the bowler appeals but the umpire shakes his head. The replays detect a big inside edge. Good call by Finch who also got some help there from Smith, we feel as they were seen having a word. The batsmen for the record crossed.

Sheldon Cottrell comes in at number 10. It is all upto Nurse now. Get those inside edges, outside edges, some clean shots and who knows, it might be West Indies running home. That is the fun of watching 9, 10 and 11 bat. Never know what to expect when. Marcus Stoinis has been given the ball now. 2-0-14-0 so far.

OUT! Starc, you beast! Two wickets in the over and this match has completely turned in the favour of the Aussies. He hurls in a short delivery around the rib cage, Holder stands tall to pull but the bounce gets big on him and he ends up gloving it towards short fine leg. Adam Zampa takes an easy catch and this is wicket number 150 in ODIs for Mitch - fastest to reach this mark. Meanwhile, a disappointed Holder walks back leaving his team sinking.

OUT! Brathwaite holes out! Starc outsmarts the big guy with a slower one. Looks for a yorker but it turns out to be a low full toss on middle. Carlos though has not picked the variation in pace and is early into the swing of his bat. It catches the toe end and flies straight down to Finch at long on who makes no mistake. They cross and the umpire gives it as a leg bye. Didn't look like offering the shot but maybe he was taking some evasive action. 10-3-41-2, Cummins completes his outstanding spell.

OUT! Where is the ball? Where is the ball? It is Maxi who has quietened all! The entire stadium has been silenced. Dre Russ has come. Dre Russ has gone. The game opens up again. This is the way he plays - if it comes off, it is great. Else, it looks bad. One might argue there was no need for this. But on the flip side, with the off side up, Russell thought I will go over the off side. Starc smartly changed the pace, bowled a slower one but Russell was already through his shot. Looked to go inside out but all he managed was a top edge. Now here is where Glenn Maxwell came into play. He raced behind from point, ran after it, kept his eyes on the ball, circled under it, lost it for a while but then eventually took it. The Australians are pumped up. They will feel they are on top now. But the match is not over yet. 73 more needed from 67 balls.

FOUR! Top effort by Nathan Lyon (sub) but to no avail. Short delivery on middle and leg, Shai shuffles across and gets a good amount of his bat behind his pull shot. It speeds down to fine leg where Lyon tries to stop it with a dive. He does so initially but then the ball rolls over to the fence.

In the air... SAFE! Short in length and on middle, Holder pulls it aerially over square leg and Starc in the deep collects it on one bounce. The sun was staring down the fielder's eyes and hence he picked it late. Wonder what the sunglasses are doing on his cap. Could have attempted for a catch had he picked it early. Little moments.

Good length ball around off, Holder goes on his back foot and defends it off the inner half to mid-wicket.
Drinks break. This match is interestingly poised at the moment. 116 needed off 108 balls. Shai Hope has applied himself superbly to the demands of this run chase and is holding one end well. He just needs support from one end. Jason Holder is currently providing him that. Their target will be to narrow down the runs required as much as possible for their big hitters to finish it in a flourish. For Australia, they have to keep chipping away at the wickets to stay in the hunt. Pat Cummins will continue after the mini-break.

OUT! Terrible mix-up and Shimron Hetmyer is run out. Disappointment writ large on the young man's face. He was beginning to bat well but has to return now. A flatter and shorter delivery outside off, Hope gets back and punches it wide of mid off. He sets off for a run but then stops seeing the fielder rush across to the ball. Hetmyer though has come down a long way and is to the point of no return. Cummins immediately releases the ball to Maxwell who breaks the stumps at the non-striker's end. Another left-hander walks in. It is Nicholas Pooran. He can hit the ball too but West Indies don't need pinch-hitters. They need a partnership.

OUT! It's clipping leg! Umpire's call stays. Chris Gaffaney is right this time but this decision could have gone either way. Gayle returns and the crowd is not too happy. They wanted the big man to stay and light up the stadium with some big shots. This one is a slower delivery. Although it's 138 kph, it's still 14 kph slower than the previous one. Starc dishes it on a fuller length around middle and it skids back in with the angle. Gayle tries his best to put bat on ball after getting half forward but misses. He is struck on the pads, the appeal is made and the finger goes up. Chris hesitantly takes the DRS, the replays roll in and they confirm that the leg stump is getting tickled. Australia rejoice, Gayle is disappointed.
It's all about the two Chris at the moment. Once again Chris Gayle has been adjudged lbw by Chris Gaffaney. Has missed the bat. Will it miss leg? Will it be a hat-trick for Gaffaney? Last two times he gave Gayle out, it was overturned. No hat-trick. This is clipping leg. The Gayle show is over.

MISSING LEG! By a fair margin also. Boos around the stadium. The technology has saved Gayle here. Drama aplenty here at Trent Bridge. Starc spears in a low full toss, angling down, Gayle is beaten for sheer pace there, 148 kph it's bowled at, and he is rapped low on the pads. They appeal and the finger goes up. Gayle opts for the DRS and the replays show that it's easily missing leg. In fact, the impact itself is outside leg!

NOT OUT! There is noise, definitely there is some noise. What happened then? Oh dear, it's not from the bat, it's from the ball brushing the off pole. The bails didn't come off. A length ball close to off, Gayle tries to heave it over the leg side but misses. The ball goes behind and Carey appeals after collecting the ball. The umpire agrees. Gayle takes the referral and gets the decision overturned. Not for the first time we have seen those bails not coming off. Believe me, Starc bowled that at 147 kph. Still, the bails stayed in their grooves.
Caught behind! This is a big moment. But Chris Gayle is going nowhere. He takes the review immediately. Starc laughs on his way past Gayle who shakes his head and indicates that he did not nick it! And for sure! Because the ball has missed the outside edge and hit the off stump! Gayle will bat on...

OUT! Edged and taken! Cummins draws first blood! He persists with a good line here. Lands it on a length and outside off, going away with the angle, Lewis with a stationary footwork pushes inside the line and gets a thick outside edge behind to second slip. FIVE WIDES! West Indies open their account in the exact manner Australia did. With extras. Starc slips a good length ball outside leg, Gayle fails to flick and Carey also fails to gather it. It bursts behind off his gloves and races to the fence, beating the diving effort of Cummins in the deep.
Welcome back, folks! The chase is about to begin and the two West Indian openers have come out in the middle. Chris Gayle, a giant figure, has been in amazing form in 2019 and he has a new partner in Evin Lewis today. Both are known for their destructive batting and Australia will have to be at their best with the ball. There will be some early assistance for their bowlers and let's wait and watch how the likes of Starc, Coulter-Nile and Cummins fare. The former to kick start with the first new ball. Two slips in place. Here we go...
01st InningsAustralia
Now then, 289 is the target! The game is evenly poised at the moment. The West Indies batters do have it in them to chase this down but the Australian pace attack is a threatening one. They too are capable of exploiting the extra bounce on the surface. An exciting chase awaits us.
Man of the moment, Nathan Coulter-Nile, is having a chat with Michael Slater. NCN says that he enjoyed his innings. Assesses the wicket by saying that one needed to take his time and then play his shots. Reckons that the short ball came on pretty quickly off the deck. Admits that he was targetting the shorter side while going big. Hopes that the score is big enough but definitely feels that Australia have a chance at least. Praises his skipper Smith for sticking like a glue in the middle.
The West Indies bowling was fiery to begin with! They used the same tactics they used against Pakistan, bowl short and fast. It did work but they probably overdid it. Also, they weren't as accurate as they were in their last game as they bowled too many extras. Still though on a ground which is know to be a paradise for the batters, they will be happy. Except for Nurse everybody had a wicket at least. Brathwaite was the one with the most wickets as he took a three-fer but Russell was probably the most impressive.
The innings started off for Australia in a very bad fashion as none of Khawaja, Finch, Maxwell or Warner crossed 20. It seemed like the West Indian bowlers would once again bundle their opposition out for a very low total. That was not to be though, as the fightback then began. Smith played the anchoring role, his partnership first with Stoinis steadying the ship a little. The latter fell at the wrong time though but Carey and SS went on to add another 68-run stand. West Indies though were still in control after Carey departed but then what hit them was surely something they would not have been prepared for. Nathan Coulter-Nile! He initially did not look that comfortable but once he got in, he started hitting the bowlers at will. He got his fifty along with Smith and when the two were batting, Australia looked like crossing the 300-run mark. However, Smith was dismissed, courtesy a brilliant catch. Nathan did strike a few meaty blows after that but fell 8 short of a ton. The rest down the order had no significant contribution and Australia fell short of the 300-run mark, failing to bat out their 50 overs.
What a recovery this is from Australia! WOW! They needed something special when they were reeling at 79 for 5 and the lower middle order just provided them that. Their 102-run stand has given Australia a total which they will be very, very pleased with. Yes, they will be disappointed with not facing their hole quota of overs but they will back themselves to defend this target.

OUT! HO, HO, HO! What a catch that is! Probably the catch of the tournament! Cottrell, you beauty! Something special was needed to break this stand and take Smith's wicket and Sheldon has provided it. Smith can't believe his luck. He might have thought, he has hit that for a biggie. He moves right across and whips it towards the backward square leg fence. SC there runs to his left, stretches one hand out and the ball sticks. He then realizes the momentum is taking him over the ropes so he throws it up, goes over the ropes, then comes back in and completes the catch. The Windies start celebrating. The umpire goes upstairs to check and the replays show it is perfect. The 102-run stand has been broken. And a lovely innings by Smith comes to an end. 300 now looks difficult though.
Sheldon Cottrell has taken a blinder near the fence. But has he done that cleanly? The umpires get together and take it upstairs. Meanwhile, Steve Smith is seen walking. The way West Indians are celebrating they are very sure. Let's find out in the replays...

FOUR! In the air... but just wide! Opportunity missed? Pooran probably misjudged it. Down the leg side and it is full. NCN flicks it in the air towards deep backward square leg. Pooran initially runs in straight but then realizes he has to run to his right. He moves to that direction but till then, it is too late as the ball is out of reach and it races to the fence.

Our viewpoint - Just a thought. Should Alex Carey be batting a bit higher up the order? We feel that he is batting too low. Ideally, he should be sandwiched between Maxwell and Stoinis so that there is someone down the order to make use of his 'dirty' work. Many times, we have seen Carey come in and do the repair job but after that, there is no one to make use of the platform. Like today. West Indies are into the Aussie bowlers. Had Stoinis or Maxwell come in now, 250-270 could still have been a possibility.

OUCH! Well played in the end by Smith. Back of a length on off, it rises after pitching. Smith goes back and looks to defend but the ball hits him on the glove. The good thing though, is that he takes a hand off the handle so the ball dies down onto the ground. A very testing over from Oshane.

In the air... safe! Nathan has started off in a very unconvincing manner! Russell hurries him up with a short ball. NCN goes for the pull but gets a top edge towards the leg side. There are two players going for it, the keeper and the mid-wicket fielder, but they don't get to it as the ball falls safely at square leg. Top over for the Windies, a wicket and two runs from it.

OUT! Russell breaks the 68-run partnership. Excellent bowling change by Jason Holder. A wicket almost immediately after the Drinks break and we have seen that happen many times in the past. Not sure though if Carey needed to play at that. It is on a length and outside off, moves away further with the angle. Carey hangs his bat out without any purpose. The ball kisses the outside edge and goes into the mitts of the keeper. A good innings by Carey comes to an end. He will be disappointed though as there was a big opportunity to convert his start. DRINKS! The match is shifting like a pendulum from one side to the other. West Indies started the game with a bang, only to witness a fightback, before bouncing back again. However, Steve Smith and Alex Carey have already stitched a 67-run stand and are trying to shift the momentum once more. 20 overs are remaining and West Indies would try to wrap up Australia as quickly as possible.

OUT! WHAT A CATCH! We saw de Kock taking a blinder yesterday, today Shai Hope grabs one. Khawaja's uncomfortable stay out there comes to an end. He looks to break free by stepping out, expecting a short ball but it is a length one. He ends up being too far from the ball and gets a thick outside edge behind. The ball is dying in front of the keeper and first slip but Shai Hope dives to his left and takes it with one hand! Three down are Australia in Powerplay 1. The Windies are pumped. End of another successful over for them.

OUT! There goes another! Cottrell strikes this time. Brilliant, brilliant from the West Indies bowlers. They started off really badly but their second overs have been excellent. Both the openers back in the hut for Australia and they are in trouble here. It is on a length and outside off. Warner is guilty of going hard at it. He plays at the ball ahead of his body. It goes off the outer half and into the hands of point where Hetmyer takes a dolly.

NASTY! Brute of a delivery that. Short and it is very well-directed. It is at 140 KPH. Khawaja looks to fend at it awkwardly but is hit on the helmet.

FIVE WIDES! Dreadful start for West Indies. Bonus for Australia. Oshane bowls this down the leg side, it swings away further. Warner looks to flick but misses by a long way. Hope dives to his right but can only get a hand to it. It races to the fine leg fence.
Done and dusted with the National Anthems! We are all set for the game to begin! The Australian openers, Aaron Finch and David Warner, make their way out to the middle. The left-hander will take strike and he will be facing Oshane Thomas who has the first new ball in hand. Here we go...
It is time for the National Anthems! The two teams make their way out for it.
Australia (UNCHANGED PLAYING XI) - Aaron Finch (C), David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey (WK), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa.
West Indies (Playing XI) - Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope (WK), Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell, Jason Holder (C), Carlos Brathwaite, Ashley Nurse, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas.
Aaron Finch says he wanted to bat first as it looks a dry wicket and he hopes it spins later. States there is more confidence in the group and people have stepped up when needed and it has made a difference. Mentions the team has changed completely and today it is about turning up. Informs they have no changes.
Jason Holder says it is a good wicket, there should be something for the pacers early on and he hopes to get early wickets. Mentions the wicket should not change a lot and they need to be disciplined in all the departments. Stresses they need to be aggressive like they were in the first game. Informs Evin Lewis comes in for Darren Bravo. Ends by saying it was a tough choice but Evin has been an important part of the team and hence, he comes in.
TOSS - Up goes the coin and it lands in the favor of West Indies. They will bowl first.
PITCH REPORT - Michael Holding says there is a little bit of grass on the surface. Mentions it is a used pitch but the cracks have not opened up. States it looks a belter. Reckons the ball should come onto the bat nicely.
A warm welcome to Match 10 of the 2019 World Cup between Australia and West Indies at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Both the teams enter this game on the back of a win. However, the sides are probably in for a tougher test today. Australia are favourites but judging by how the Windies played in the first game, you can't rule them out. Let us hope for another exciting encounter.
