nd Innings India
Right then, that is it from this entertaining encounter and from New York as well as this was the last game of the World Cup here. India goes through to the next round while USA have it all to do in their last game. However, the action continues as we have a big clash coming up on 13th June, Thursday. It is West Indies taking on New Zealand and that game will begin at 6 am IST (12.30 am GMT), but as you know, you can always join us early for all the build-up to the match.  Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Rohit Sharma, the victorious skipper of India says they lost a couple of big guns early on but it was nice to see SKY and Dube keep their calm and build that partnership. Adds that they knew the bowlers will have to take the lead as scoring runs is difficult here. Appreciates the bowlers, especially Arshdeep Singh who bowled a brilliant spell and says he provided a perfect start for them. On being asked about Shivam Dube's bowling, he says they want options with the ball as well and to use them when they feel the need moving forward. Adds it is a big relief to advance to the Super 8s as playing here wasn't easy. Adds you really have to stick to the end and take the game as deep as possible and says luckily they have managed to pull through in all the three games they have played here. Also appreciates Suryakumar Yadav by saying that his game has also elevated to a new level now and that's exacty what he expects from a senior player like him. Ends up by saying that his partnership with Shivam Dube was a crucial one that took them home.
Aaron Jones, the captain of USA says that they were 10-15 runs short on this wicket. Adds that he is proud of his bowlers for taking the game close and it was pleasing to see. Mentions that it is time to revamp, they will have a few meetings and then will go hard against Ireland. Says that the wicket was tricky and he thought seamers were the best option. Ends by saying that Monank Patel should be fit for the next match.
Arshdeep Singh is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his career-best figures of (4-0-9-4). He begins by saying that he enjoyed and is very happy with the performance. Tells that the talk in the dressing room is to not provide easy balls to score as the batters will have to work hard to get those runs on a difficult wicket to bat on. On being asked about bowling at the death, he says he tries to bowl more yorkers and build pressure on the opposition batters and has learnt a lot from Jasprit Bumrah. Adds he tries to keep it simple and expects to perform well in the next phase of the tourament as well.
Presentation Time…
Earlier in the game, USA posted a fighting total on the board courtesy of a good knock from Nitish Kumar along with some contributions from Steven Taylor and Corey Anderson. Arshdeep Singh was sensational for India and ended up with a four-fer. Hardik Pandya picked up a couple while Axar Patel chipped in with one. While chasing, it was tricky for India losing the big guns early, but Suryakumar Yadav kept his calm and along with Shivam Dube took them over the line.
USA, on the other hand, should be pleased with their bowling effort as they made India work really hard for every run. Saurabh Netravalkar provided them a dream start by getting rid of Virat Kohli and then got Rohit Sharma as well. They couldn't pick up wickets for a while but checked the runs to keep the pressure on. Ali Khan came in and dismissed Rishabh Pant  with a magnificent delivery but they couldn't build on that. Saurabh Netravalkar also dropped SKY when the game was in the balance and that ultimately cost them in the end. USA were also penalised five penalty runs and that brought their morale further down as after that, the batters just took the game away from them.
India were rocked early on when Virat Kohli departed for a golden duck and then Rohit Sharma also fell cheaply. Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav steadied the ship nicely and build up an important partnership. The former was dismissed but SKY held one end, and even though Shivam Dube struggled, he did not gave his wicket away and supported well. SKY was also given a life and he made full use of it as he went to score an unbeaten half-century while Dube hit the winnings run and this is exactly what India would have wanted going into the next round.
HAT-TRICK OF WINS FOR INDIA! With that, they also book their place in the Super-8 stage as group winners. However, this was not easy as USA gave a tough fight with the ball. This is also the highest successful chase at this ground in this World Cup and it is all smiles in the Indian hut.

We are back for India's reply! The two umpires walk out to the middle. The USA players disperse throughout the field and take their respective positions. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the two openers for India with the latter taking the guard. Saurabh Netravalkar has the new ball and will start with two slips in place. Here we go…
… THE RUN CHASE …
Right then, India have 111 to chase it down and advance to the Super 8 stage but for that, they will have to bring their A-game to the middle with the bat. The USA surely might think that they have a fair chance to restrict India given the way the low-scoring thrillers on this ground have panned out, but India surely are the favorites here with a strong batting line up. Stay tuned as the run chase is up next in a few moments.
Nitish Kumar is up for a quick flash interview. He says that they are still a bit disappointed as they were in a good position to get 15-20 runs more. Adds that this is still a difficult wicket to bat and they thinks 110 is a good score. Mentions that he enjoyed his batting and it is always nice to play in front of a big crowd. Ends by saying they will give their all to defend this one.
On the other hand, India could not have asked for a better start as Arshdeep Singh delivered a double blow in the very first over, dismissing two crucial batters and sending them back to the pavilion. Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah further compounded the pressure by asking probing questions to the batters, consistently beating the edges of their bats and giving them no room to score at all.  Following a barrage of dot balls, Hardik Pandya further dented the batting order by removing the dangerous Aaron Jones and finished off with a brilliant economical spell with a couple of wickets to his name. Axar Patel then broke a brewing partnership by getting rid of Taylor and Arshdeep Singh got another crucial wicket to his name. Arshdeep Singh bowled one of the best spells of the competition by conceding just 9 runs and taking 4 wickets off his quota of four overs. Jasprit Bumrah however, stayed wicketless but also didn't concede many runs either and India manage to clean up well in the death overs.
India finish on a high note and have managed to squeeze up the USA to mere 110. A clinical bowling performance collectively from India. The USA were inserted to bat first, and faced a disastrous start as they lost opener Shayan Jahangir who was in for the injured Monank Patel on the very first delivery of the match, followed by the dismissal of the in-form Andries Gous. The early loss of two wickets proved to be a significant setback for the batters to follow, as they struggled to score runs and failed to get off the blocks. As a result, the USA crawled through the Powerplay overs. The pressure continued to mount on the USA batters as Jones found it extremely challenging to negotiate the high-quality bowling from the Indian attack. In an attempt to relieve the pressure, Aaron Jones attempted an aggressive shot, but his effort backfired, leading to his dismissal, leaving his team in all sorts of misery. Nitish Kumar and opener Steven Taylor, however, gave some impetus adding 31 runs together but couldn't convert their starts into big scores. Corey Anderson then struck a six and a four before getting out. But after Anderson's departure, USA fell like a house of cards and couldn't finish on a high but somehow crept past the triple figures

Arshdeep Singh to Andries Gous, OUT! TAKEN! Arshdeep strikes a double whammy in the very first over and the USA are in a spot of bother early on! Arshdeep Singh continues to bowl from over the stumps, and lands this one on a good length, on the middle, it further shoots off from the deck and takes the batter by surprise. Andries Gous goes for a pull shot but the ball is too close for that shot and also gets a bit heavy on the batter. As a result, the ball slices off the willow, high up in the air behind the bowler where Hardik Pandya from mid off runs to his right and takes a good catch.

Done with all the pre-match formalities! It is a full house at the Nassau County Internatonal Stadium and the crowd is absolutely buzzing here. We can see the Indian players take their respective field positions. Shayan Jahangir and Steven Taylor are the two openers for USA. Arshdeep Singh has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play…
We are moments away from the start of the game! This is also the last match that will take place in this beautiful stadium in New York. Now, we see the two umpires walk out to the middle followed by the players from both sides who line up for their respective national anthems. It will be India's first followed by the national anthem of USA which will be sung by award-winning singer Mary Millben.
Aaron Jones, the captain of USA says that they would have bowled first as well. Adds that the pitch looks good and it also has something for the bowlers. Says that it will be a great game and they will go hard at them. Informs Monank Patel and Nosthush Kenjige misses out while Shayan Jahangir and Shadley van Schalkwyk comes in for them.
Rohit Sharma, the skipper of India, wins the toss and elects to bowl first. Rohit starts by saying that it is a better surface and it has played better in the last few games but says it is all about assessing the conditions. Adds it is about keeping up with the momentum and keep doing the right things, and come out and play good quality of cricket. Adds that the game against Pakistan was a great win and the bowlers chipped in largely while defending a low total. Informs they are going with the same side.

UPDATE – The news from US camp is that Monank Patel has been ruled out of this game due to an injury and Aaron Jones is the stand-in skipper.
PITCH REPORT – Ebony Rainford-Brent and Steven Smith are at the 22 yards. Rainford-Brent begins by saying that it is a glorious day with not a single cloud around. Adds that there's no breeze and the same wicket is being used as compared to the last game. Tells that the dimensions are same with 72 meters down the ground, and 66 meters and 70 meters to the square boundaries. Smith joins here and says it's been a tricky surface and things have been pretty similar throughout. Says the bowlers have tried to hit the hard length and have found success. Also says that playing cross-batted strokes have been difficult here. Reckons that bowling first would be a good choice on this track.
USA, on the other hand, led by Monank Patel has been on a merry way run throughout this group stage. They kicked off their campaign with a convincing victory over their northern neighbors Canada, before scripting a sensational Super Over triumph against the formidable Pakistan. The USA's batting unit has been blazing all guns. At the forefront of this run-scoring rampage has been the big-hitting Aaron Jones, who has been the wrecker-in-chief, taking a heavy toll on the bowlers with his blistering stroke-play. He has been very well complemented by Andries Gous and the skipper Monank Patel, who have been consistent with the bat as well. Adding to the depth, Corey Anderson is always a dangerous component as an all-rounder on any given day. Meanwhile, Saurabh Netravalkar and Nosthush Kenjige have consistently been among the wickets. This well-rounded USA outfit boasts a perfect blend of flair and discipline, with their talented players capable of turning the game. Will the USA defy the odds again or will India win three on the trot? Toss and the teams are up next.
True to their reputation, India has hit the ground running, first dismantling Ireland with a comprehensive performance and then pulling off a great historical victory against Pakistan, successfully defending a modest total of 119. However, the drop-in pitches have posed a stern test for the batters, and the Indian batting unit will be aiming to find their mojo with the willow. Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma have been in fine form while stalwarts like Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and the hard-hitting Shivam Dube are due for big scores, and they'll be itching to make their mark on this grand stage. India's bowling unit has been a well-oiled machine, with the leader of the pack Jasprit Bumrah spearheading the attack in scintillating form. The premier pacer has been simply unplayable, and has been complemented pretty well by Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj. Hardik Pandya has regained his rhythm back with the ball, while Axar Patel has been quite handy with both bat and ball and has been used as a floater whenever the situation demands.
Hello and a very warm welcome to our coverage of yet another exciting clash of Group A where India go head-to-head against the USA in the Match number 25 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, and also for the very first time in any format of cricket. Both teams are yet to be defeated in the group phase with two wins each. A win from here will ensure one a prestigious berth to the Super 8 phase.
… MATCH DAY …
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 has been full of low-scoring thrillers in the group stage, with plenty of upsets along the way. We've seen associate teams rising and regular powerhouses stumbling. Match 25 of the group stage is set to be a cracker, with Pool A leaders India and the USA ready to clash at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. India just pulled off a stunning heist in their previous game against Pakistan, turning a low-scoring thriller on its head. Defending a paltry 119, the Indian bowlers came through in the clutch and proved their mettle when the chips were down. Jasprit Bumrah who is in the form of his life bowled an exceptional spell of four overs by picking a sensational 3-fer and breathed life to the Indian hopes. Meanwhile, Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj, along with Arshdeep Singh who bowled a tremendous final over versus Pakistan, have given nothing away and exploited the track's variableness to perfection. While the Indian bowling line-up, with Hardik Pandya in fine rhythm, looks well-oiled, the batters need to bring their A-game. Stars like Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shivam Dube are all overdue for some big runs in this tournament. Rishabh Pant, since his comeback has been a different beast and looks unstoppable but he needs support from the rest of the batters. However, it is a fact that batting hasn't been a cakewalk on these drop-in pitches though, like the one in New York. Overall, India needs to be more responsible with the bat whereas the bowlers will be aiming to keep that momentum going and produce some more stellar performances to back up their recent exploits with the ball. the USA, who are co-hosting this prestigeous tournament, have been riding high lately after they stunned Pakistan in that crazy super over finish. The American lads are on cloud nine after pulling off that audacious heist against Pakistan. Their batting lineup is firing on all cylinders at the moment. Aaron Jones and captain Monank Patel have been leading the charge, scoring with sheer consistency. And then they've got those hard-hitters Andries Gous, Nitish Kumar, and Corey Anderson himself who hold the capability to turn the game upside down. But their challenge has taken another altitude as they will be facing an in-form and an experienced bowling line-up of India. Nosthush Kenjige and Harmeet Singh will be expected to continue troubling the opposition batters with their spin bowling, in the manner they have done so far in this tournament. The pacers Saurabh Netravalkar and Ali Khan would aim to further contribute to the team's success by capitalizing on their good performances. As for Corey Anderson, the big man hasn't really rolled his arm over much yet. But on his day, he can be an absolute handful component with the ball. India has been playing at this venue for their last couple games, but this is the first time USA will be taking the field in Nassau. From what we've seen so far, the pitch here hasn't been too kind to the batters. It's been tough going for the willow-wielders, and things aren't expected to get much easier in this match either. The bowlers will likely continue to have an edge on this surface. Scoring runs has been a real grind on this pitch. Teams have had to really slog it out just to get past 130. And it's been no cakewalk for the teams chasing either. This surface has been an absolute minefield for the batters. India will definitely start as favorites given their superior quality and experience. But the USA boys have shown they can punch way above their weight and are ain't pushovers. It's shaping up to be an absolute humdinger of a contest. Who do you think will win?
