This is the 9th successful year of celebrating Navjyoti programme! Over the years, UNICEF Maharashtra and DD Sahayadri have partnered and created “Navjyoti” – a unique event centered on the point of celebrating new images of girls who have taken to education in an adverse environment.
For this event, 9 girls (educated under difficult situations) are identified from different districts of Maharashtra. UNICEF, district administration and the partner NGO’s help identify these girls. These 9 girls were felicitated in an event on 29th November for their brave efforts of resisting the early marriages in adverse situations. Many prominent personalities from diverse social fields were present for the event. This event will be telecast soon on Mumbai Doordarshan.
