Congress party has given me a lot – Sushil Kumar Shinde

Congress party has given me a lot, said Union Home Minister and veteran Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde at the Idea Exchange programme organised by Loksatta, the Marathi newspaper of The Indian Express Group. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandi both wanted to make me Chief Minister of Maharashtra but that didn’t happen for some reason. But Sonia Gandhi gave me that opportunity. I became the first dalit Chief Minister of Maharashtra and I proved it. Manmohan Singji gave me power ministry & I delivered my best. Now, I am appointed as a Union Home Minister, which was never expected for person like me, added Shinde.
