सध्या मराठी वाहिन्यांवर जे मराठी बोललं जातं, त्यात ढीगभर इंग्रजी शब्द वापरलेले असतात. पण, महत्त्वाचे म्हणजे या शब्दांचा नेमका अर्थ बऱ्याचवेळा आपणास माहीत नसतो. गोिवदराव टीव्ही बघताहेत अन् गोदूताईंची आवराआवर चाललीय. गोिवदराव मध्येच उठून बाहेर गेले अन् ‘ऑक्सफर्ड पॉकेट डिक्शनरी’ घेऊन आले. थोडय़ाच वेळात पुन्हा बाहेर.. या वेळी काखेत ‘केंब्रिज इंटरनॅशनल डिक्शनरी’. पाच मिनिटांतच गोिवदराव पुन्हा उठले अन् ‘वेबस्टर डिक्शनरी’चा ठोकळा घेऊन परतले. गोदूताईंनी विचारलं, ‘‘एवढे सगळे शब्दार्थकोश घेऊन, BBC बघताय काय ?’’ गोिवदराव म्हणले, ‘‘BBC मरू दे. मराठी वाहिनीवर, एका प्रसिद्ध मराठी नटीची मुलाखत लागलीय, ती समजावून घेतोय.’’सध्या मराठी वाहिन्यांवर, जे मराठी बोललं जातं, त्यात ढीगभर इंग्रजी शब्द वापरलेले असतात. मराठी वाहिन्यांवर ऐकलेले असे काही महत्त्वाचे इंग्रजी शब्द या वेळी अभ्यासासाठी घेतलेत. नाचगाण्यांच्या स्पध्रेच्या कार्यक्रमात परीक्षकांची सर्वसाधारण प्रतिक्रिया काय असते? * fabulous - (फॅब्युलस) very good ; excellent ; extremely good ; जबरदस्त.उदा. 1) She is a bit fat but looked fabulous in red sari.2) Music, food and friends. We had a fabulous time at the party. * mind-blowing -(माइंडब्लोइंग) चक्कित जाळ (एखाद्या घटनेने डोकं चक्रावणं अथवा चकित होण याला पश्चिम महाराष्ट्रात चक्कीत जाळ होण असा शब्दप्रयोग वापरला जातो.) -extremely impressive ; exciting or shocking.उदा.1) Trecking in the Himalaya was a truly mind-blowing experience. 2) The film is a big flop but the dances are simply mind-blowing. * amazing - (अमेिझग) विस्मयकारक; very surprising.उदा. 1) She told me an amazing story of her uncle self-curing his cancer. 2) I just came back from London and it was an amazing trip. 3) The stain-remover (डाग-हटव्या) really works- It’s amazing. * awesome - (ऑसम) causing feeling of great admiration, respect or fear.उदा. 1) Though he lives in a small Indian village, his command over English is awesome. 2) My days in the hospital was an awesome experience. * oomph (उम्फ) - 1> enthusiasm or energy.उदा. 1) My new trainer has a lot more oomph than the old one. 2) sex appeal. उदा. A good actress indeed, but she lacks oomph.3) a special good quality. उदा. This is a styling product to give your hair more oomph.[नृत्यस्पध्रेत नíतकेची तारीफ करताना परीक्षकानं ‘‘तुझ्या नृत्यात oomph फॅक्टर ठासून भरला आहे’’ असे उद्गार काढले.)* my foot - used for saying that you don’t believe or agree with something that someone has said. (असहमती, अविश्वास दाखवणारा उद्गार)उदा. 1) “She is an outstanding actress” “Outstanding, my foot !” 2) “He says his car is not working” “Not working, my foot. He is just too lazy to come.”3) A fluent English speaker, my foot ! He knows 2000 words at the most. लवकरच महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण सेना टीव्ही वाहिन्यांना शुद्ध मराठीत बोलण्याचा ‘आदेश’ काढेल आणि परीक्षकांच्या तोंडून ‘चक्कित जाळ’, ‘सही सादरीकरण’, ‘नजरबंद नृत्य’, ‘जीवघेणी अदा’, ‘नादखुळा’ अशा प्रतिक्रिया ऐकायला मिळतील.. तोवर वर चíचलेले इंग्रजी शब्द अन् त्यांचे अर्थ नीट लक्षात ठेवा. जऽऽय महाराष्ट्र।
