सार्वजनिक ठिकाणी भेटलेल्या व्यक्तीला तुम्ही कसं अभिवादन करता? दोन्ही हात जोडून (Namaste) किंवा हस्तांदोलन (handshake) करून. पण सध्या पेज थ्री संस्कृतीच्या प्रभावामुळे एअर किसिंग ही पद्धती उदयाला आलीय आणि झपाटय़ाने फैलावतेय. या हवाई चुंबनाविषयी एक लेख प्रकाशित झालाय. त्यातले काही शब्द आपण टिपून घेऊ.* air kiss - गालाजवळ ओठ नेऊन चुंबन घेताना करतात तसे ओठ (आणि आवाज) करणे.उदा. The handshake is outdated and the Namaste is for prudes.ll* de rigueur (डरिगऽर) (फ्रेंचमधून आलेला शब्द)- considered necessary if you wish to be accepted sociallyउदा. 1) A six pack is de rigueur for Bollywood heroes.2) Seema works in a hotel where high heels are de rigueur for women.* prude (प्रूड) - someone who is very easily shocked by anything relating to sex; सोवळा.उदा. He is such a prude. He reads philosophical books but never a romantic novel.फॅशन सोहळे, फिल्म पुरस्कार रजनी, कला प्रदर्शनं आणि मोठमोठय़ा पाटर्य़ामध्ये ही चुंबन-देवघेव सर्रास पाहायला मिळेल. लेखात पुढं म्हटलंय, "By air-kissing fashionistas, movie stars and art aficionados pretend to show warmth for other people."* fashionista (फॅशनीस्टअ्) - a fashion designer or a person who is always dressed in a fashionable way; स्टाईलभाई.उदा. 1) He is a stylish man, less a manager and more a fashionista.2) Even while going to bed the fashionista is very careful about his cloths.* aficionado (अफिशनाडउ) - a person who likes a particular sport, activity or subject very much and knows a lot about it.उदा. 1) The pop aficionados gathered at the club and enjoyed the music all night.2) He's an aficionado of old Hindi film songs. या चुंबनीसांना लेखिकेनं ‘‘Mouth के सौदागर’’ असं संबोधलंय आणि या प्रकारचं वर्णन "mwah-mwah epidemic" (चुंबाचुंबीची साथ) असं केलंय.* mwah (म्वा) - exclamation used to represent the sound of a kiss. उदा. Mwah-mwah epidemic can dangerously help spreading of swine-flu.बिल िक्लटन यांच्या बरोबरच्या लफडय़ाचे तपशील माध्यमांना पुरवून मोनिका लुवेन्स्कीनं भरपूर माया कमावली. या प्रकारासाठी इंग्रजीत एक शब्दप्रयोग आहे* kiss-and-tell - telling publicity about your relationship with a famous person, in order to earn money.उदा. 1) She gave a kiss-and-tell interview to the leading news channel.2) She is a kiss-and-tell babe. Either she is busy kissing or telling.आमचा मित्र एका श्रीमंत मुलीच्या एकतर्फी प्रेमात पडला. च्युईंगम चघळायची खोड आणि त्याचा फुगा बनवण्यात पटाईत म्हणून त्या मुलीला नाव होतं- बबली. तिच्या प्रेमात मित्र कविता रचायला लागला. धाडस करून मित्रानं एक कविता तिला दाखवली. बबलीनं तोंडातलं बबलगम फुगवून फोडलं आणि कविताही टरकावून टाकली. नकार मिळाला तरी कविता चालूच राहिल्या. कॉलेज संपलं, सगळी पांगापांग झाली. त्या प्रेमकविताही कुठे रद्दीत नाहीश्या झाल्या असतील. त्यातल्या दोन ओळी मला अजून आठवताहेत.Make me chewing gum in next life, God, I wasted this.
