nd Innings Delhi Capitals
Right then, we now head into the final week of the group stage of the 2024 Indian T20 League and still, there's just one team that has qualified for the playoffs and that is Kolkata. With three spots still up for grabs and multiple teams in the mix, the final week is expected to be one of the most intriguing ones ever in the history of the competition. The new week kickstarts with a game between Kolkata, the only qualified team and Gujarat up in Ahmedabad. That game will be played on Monday, 13 May and will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) but you can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Till then, take care and goodbye!
Cameron Green is the Player of the Match for his fine all-round display. He says that they have found a bit of form in the last few games and are still in the hunt which is positive. Adds that given the amount of high scores this season, they needed to be concerned in the Powerplay with regards to the bowling and managed to do well. Mentions that when Khaleel was bowling his off-cutters were gripping and bouncing and they hoped that they could also use similar deliveries and ends by saying that given the grounds are small, the bowlers will take all the luck they get.
Faf du Plessis, the captain of Bengaluru starts by saying that it has been an incredible run for them and is really delighted. Adds that it is all about confidence. Mentions that they have been getting 200 runs quite often now and are really enjoying the environment. States that the ball was swinging as well, so you just need to take a punt in the middle. Believes that behind closed doors they are getting things right., and is really happy with the way the trio of seamers are working out. Mentions that they are focused on playing out their style of cricket.
The Presentation ceremony…
Lockie Ferguson is now down for a quick chat. He says that it was similar to the last game and the hard work they have done throughout the season with the ball, is bearing fruits now. Adds that even after a few disappointing games, the support staff kept the group together and they were enjoying their cricket. Reckons that their batters did extremely well as it was gripping more than usual and that made the bowlers' job easier. Says that they are looking forward to the few days off and then that crunch clash against Chennai.
Axar Patel, the stand-in skipper for Delhi starts by saying that they could've been much better in the field. States that whenever you have lost 4 wickets inside the Powerplay then you are always chasing a game. Informs that the run out of two important players was just unlucky for them. Adds that they will shift their focus on the final game and aim to make it count.
Earlier in the game, Delhi opted to bowl first and it was a very entertaining start with a couple of wickets falling and runs galore in the Powerplay. Rajat Patidar played a sublime knock and got back-to-back fifties and Will Jacks too got into the forties. Delhi then roared back with timely wickets and ended much better than expected even after a cameo from Cameron Green and kept the home side under the 190-run mark. Khaleel Ahmed and Rasikh Dar picked up a couple of wickets each while remaining fairly economical for Delhi but in the chase, it was a all-round bowling effort from the home side that got them over the line.
Delhi will be shell-shocked with that loss as a win here would have boosted their chances of making it through to the playoffs a lot but instead, they are now behind Bengaluru in terms of net run rate and are all but out of the race. The top order did disappoint big time and the unfortunate run out of Jake Fraser-McGurk came at a very high cost as well. Shai Hope did well to inject some momentum and Axar Patel stepped up with the bat too but they needed a lot more. An in-form Tristan Stubbs too ran himself out leaving Axar with too much to do. Axar did get a half-century before getting out but Delhi were well beaten in the end.
BENGALURU'S RESURGENCE CONTINUES! A fifth straight win for Bengaluru and all of a sudden, things have got so much more interesting in terms of the points table and this loss will be a body blow for Delhi who now are in the same boat as the home side. With what looked like a slightly under-par score, Bengaluru needed wickets upfront and the bowlers didn't disappoint. They got David Warner in the very first over and then three more wickets followed inside the first four overs. The job was more than half done at that point but there was some resistance from the opposition. Once Lockie Ferguson got the wicket of Shai Hope, the tail-enders were exposed and slowly but surely, Bengaluru kept on taking wickets and got the job done with Yash Dayal finishing with 3 wickets.

We are back. David Warner and Jake Fraser-McGurk to open for Delhi.
… The Run Chase …
Right then, Delhi have their task cut, they need to bring their A-game and chase this down to push themselves up in the points table. However, Bengaluru will be hungry themselves with their campaign on the line. One loss can shatter their dreams. Do join us shortly for the second essay.
Rajat Patidar is down for a quick chat. He says that the wicket was a bit two-paced when he walked out to bat and the ball was holding a bit. Adds that he has targeted a few bowlers and tries to work smartly. Mentions that it is not easy to pick the lengths and tries to read the spinners off the hand. Reckons that the target is certainly defendable and if they bowl well, they will win.
Then once again, Delhi were pushed on the back foot when Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar joined hands and stitched a solid partnership to get them back in the contest. Although, there is always a mantra that a team follows when they are bowling and that is, one brings two. If they are able to send back a set-batter, maybe then things could change and that is what happened. After causing havoc, Patidar and Jacks fell in quick succession. Delhi kept believing in themselves and made sure to keep themselves in the game. Then came a moment when Cameron Green went all guns blazing from the get go, but then came Khaleel Ahmed to the rescue with two wickets in a single over, that too in the death to make sure, he applies some brakes. In the end, Bengaluru only manage to post 187. Isn't 220 a par score this season? Especially when you are playing in Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Bengaluru needed to start off with a flier, and they surely did that. It was Virat Kohli who took the matter into his own hands and set the tone for the innings, but there was lack of support from the other end, as Faf could hardly find his groove. Once this stand was broken, Delhi managed to capitalize on it and pick up another wicket shortly to see the back of Virat Kohli.

Mukesh Kumar to Cameron Green, OUT! RUN OUT! Oh, dear! Where was Mohammed Siraj going there? Mukesh Kumar goes full and wide and gets it in the blockhole, Cameron Green reaches out and hits it firmly through cover-point. Siraj doesn't notice this and turns back for the third run but Mukesh simply whips off the bails at the bowler's end and Bengaluru finish with 187/9 on the board.

States that when they start well then end up dominating the game really well. Informs that Pant was a bit angry with the decision, although he is here with the squad and will be trying his best to motivate us. Right then, two teams who don't quite have their fate completely in their own hands and can only increase their chances of making it through to the playoffs with a win and both Bengaluru and Delhi will be raring to go out and showcase their skills. Will the resurgent Virat Kohli and Bengaluru side continue to build momentum and notch up another win? Or will Axar Patel, in the absence of Rishabh Pant take Delhi to a famous win and on the verge of a top-four finish? We shall find out in due time. Toss and team news in a bit.
Delhi also are on their way to turning their campaign around as well. They have collected three wins in the last five matches and have a two-point point lead against their opposition this evening. In the absence of Rishabh Pant, they might have to worry about some stability in the middle-order, but this season Tristan Stubbs has proved his worth, maybe Pant won't be a huge miss after all. Nevertheless, all eyes will be on the wonder kid from Australia, Jake Fraser-McGurk who just bolsters this Delhi batting line-up.
Hello and a warm welcome to all. We are at the business end of the tournament, and Bengaluru do have their task cut out as they go up against Delhi at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Match 62 of the 2024 Indian T20 League. They need to win all their remaining matches to keep their playoff hopes alive, although they need to rely on some other results as well to make it into the top 4. One thing that runs in a quality side is the never-giving-up attitude. Bengaluru will aim to do their best on the field and leave everything else on destiny.
… MATCH DAY …
The Indian T20 League continues to escalate in excitement with each passing game, setting the stage for yet another electrifying must-win clash between two formidable sides. Match number 62 sees Bengaluru hosting Delhi at the iconic M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, promising fans another enthralling showdown. Both teams have hit their stride in recent matches, charging towards playoff contention. Bengaluru, despite teetering on the edge, have showcased remarkable determination in overturning their fortunes after a turbulent start to the tournament. With four consecutive victories under their belt, they currently occupy the 7th position with 10 points. To keep their playoff dreams alive, Bengaluru must secure wins in their remaining two matches and hope for favourable outcomes elsewhere. On the flip side, Delhi sits in the 5th position on the table, having lost just one of their last four games. They too face the imperative of winning both remaining matches to strengthen their position and must focus on improving their net run rate, which could potentially decide their fate in the playoff race. Bengaluru's team composition appears to have stabilized, with their batting unit consistently delivering, spurred on by the brilliance of Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar. Supported by a reliable bowling unit led by Mohammed Siraj and Swapnil Singh, Bengaluru seems to have finally found their rhythm. However, Delhi will miss the services of their skipper Rishabh Pant in this crucial fixture due to a one-match ban following a breach of the Indian T20 League’s Code of Conduct. Nonetheless, Delhi has shown commendable form, buoyed by their recent victory against a strong Rajasthan team. The likes of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel have provided solid starts, backed by a resilient middle order led by Tristan Stubbs. Their pace attack, spearheaded by Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar, complemented by the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, adds depth to their bowling arsenal. With the Chinnaswamy pitch favouring batters, another high-scoring encounter is on the horizon as two formidable batting line-ups brace for battle. So, who do you think will emerge victorious in this much-anticipated and must-win clash? We shall soon find out!
